Vote For Snoop... and other things Facebook

I figure this is a good week to create a blog about the one thing that is literally always up on my laptop, and phone. That of course is Facebook, first off I would like to say that if you aren’t voting for Snoop Dogg to come to UNC for a free concert you need to start doing it now. And if you are you need to keep voting and get everyone you know to vote. Just in the past couple of days UNC has moved from in the 30’s in the ranks to #6 as of 8:30 Monday night. This is something that I feel like we can do with our huge student body and following. The only school that I feel like we may have trouble beating is UCLA just because it is also a huge school and it is in California and we all know how Snoop is partial to California. Also, another reason I think we have a good chance is the people that make Bulletstorm, the people who are sponsoring the competition, are based in Raleigh. Now, there may not be anything to it but I feel like they would be partial to a North Carolina school to win it.
The next thing I would like to talk about is my favorite Facebook App by far and that is Family Feud. I loved this show growing up and the game is just like playing on the show. It is awesome. Every week I end up getting in a battle with all of my suitemates to see who can get the highest weekly score. It is super fun and really addicting, you only get one episode every 12 hours so it doesn’t take too much time out of your day but it is still worth it. And if you think you can beat me for the week, add me on Facebook (Cole Fuller) and we will see.
One last thing, I don’t know if anyone else has been having this problem, but my chat on Facebook has been messing up for like the past month, I don’t know why but apparently it is happening to a couple of my other friends too but a majority of the people are having a problem. I'm just saying this just in case somebody from class keeps trying to talk to me and I'm not responding, I promise I am not blowing you off.

Worst week EVER!!

I'm not going to lie, this week sucked. Now I'm not usually the one to sit around and dwell on the past, but this may be up there as one of the worst weeks ever. Actually I'm pretty sure it was the worst week I have ever experienced. Maybe blogging about it will help me get over it and start out a new week with a clean slate.
It all started Monday morning; my mom called and told me that our really old dog, LuLu, finally passed away. Now this was not surprise to me, because she was probably almost as old as me. She had gotten where she was having trouble with walking up steps and eating. She had lived a good life and it was her time to move on so it sucked, but being an adult I accepted it and moved on.
Then Tuesday, it’s not that anything particularly bad happened but it was just a long day filled with a ton of work. Wednesday, well there was the Dook-Carolina game. Let’s face it we blew it was highly disappointing but it in the end, it is just a game.
Thursday, my roommate and I got into a fight. It basically boils down to the fact that he doesn’t have a class before 11 am and I have 9 am classes every morning. He stays up until 2 or 3 in the morning every morning and eventually the sucky week and lack of sleep built up and we had a fight. Again this is not big deal; it is what happened Friday that capped off the week.
Friday, I wake up and take an economics exam. Well apparently I forgot to bubble in my name and PID because right when I wrote it in I got the exam and got distracted. But this is not horrible, I didn’t get a grade but the good news is that the weight of the exam just gets put on the final. Then when I get back to the dorm I get a call from my mom and I can instantly tell something is wrong. It turns out that another one of our dogs, Bean, got hit by a car and died. Now this hit me hard. This was my dad’s dog and one of my favorite dogs I have ever had. It was sudden and really hit me hard. I was really worried about my dad because this is a dog that he could not sit in his chair without this dog jumping in his lap and going to sleep. It was basically like is 3rd son. I was stuck in Chapel Hill so basically all weekend I stayed on the phone with him, just to give him some company and make sure he was taking it well.
This has undoubtedly been one of the longest hardest weeks I have ever been through. I was ready to just jump in a bomb shelter because I felt like it would never end. Obviously it was not the world’s worst weeks but it was up there in my book. I was so excited that this Monday came around just because I was ready to start a new week and try to but some of this behind me.

The time waisting subscription... but its awesome

This video is really cool, but not what I am going to talk about. We watched it in psychology, it’s really crazy what your eyes can do when it comes to optical illusions. I did find this video on youtube which is kind of what I want to talk about. What this is all about is my new love that I just recently found, and that would be Netflix instant streaming on my PS3.
Talk about a time waster. I have started watching movies I have never even heard of. For those of you who don’t know what Netflix instant streaming is, it’s basically a huge database of movies that you can stream straight to your TV though you PS3, Xbox, or Wii, and it is fairly good quality too. My most recent discovery is the show Dexter, it comes on Showtime and the first 2 seasons are on Netflix. Basically I watched the first 2 seasons on Netflix in 2 days and then had to find the other 3 seasons on the internet. Most likely the best show ever, it is about a serial killer that kills other serial killers. Amazing show, I you have not seen it yet I would highly recommend watching it. (But make sure you have like 5 days of free time because one you start it you cannot stop)
Anyway back to Netflix, it is totally worth the 10 bucks a month it costs if you like to watch movies and TV. It has everything from really old movies to Family Guy, basically a little bit of everything. Oh yeah, and it has a ton of stand up comedy, which is great when you have a group of people hanging around and you need something to watch, because you cannot go wrong with stand up.
On another note, UNC vs. Dook game is tomorrow night. Super excited about that as you may have been able to tell from the last blog. I think we are definitely going to give them a run for the money, but I know it is hard to play at Cameron Indoor, so win or lose (hopefully win) it’s going to be a good game.

Meeting expectations

It seemed at the beginning of this basketball season that it was going to be another disappointing year, for our 8th preseason ranked basketball team. After a couple disappointing losses in the tournament, all I heard were jeers from Duke fans about how much better they were than us. Then, something amazing happened, we beat Kentucky at home. The hope was there, that maybe we still had a shot at being successful this year. Then came the heartbreaking loss at the Greensboro Coliseum against Texas, and the loss at Georgia Tech. At this point I and everyone else probably thought that we were down for the count. With our amazing freshman, Harrison Barnes, not playing to the expectations what we thought, and hoped, he would.
But now, the last 5 games since the loss to GT, we are a whole different team. Roy is now starting one of my favorite players, Kendall Marshall, and Drew II is playing much better off of the bench. On top of that, Henson is killing it in the middle, and Zeller is still doing what he has been doing the whole year, dominating. Also, Barnes is finally coming out of his shell, setting his career high twice is the last two games, I think he is on fire and it’s going to be hard to put him out.
What makes me upset it that for some reason no one sill has faith in our team, well at least not the people that are ranking the teams. We just not got back into the AP top 25 at 23 and we still are not ranked in the ESPN polls. Come on ESPN, we are dominating right now. My question is, how is Illinois still ranked 11 and they are 15-5 and we are 15-6, and we barely have 23rd. All of our losses except GT have been ranked at one point or another.
Either way, the next two games are going to show how tough and good we are. Saturday we have Florida State with is probably the 3rd best team in our conference, at home. (If anyone has an extra ticket… I am in need of one) Then, we have Dook on Sunday. We get to see who gets the last word after Wednesday's night’s game.
